A BEBINGTON man has been arrested following a spate of indecent exposures involving schoolgirls and young women in Tranmere.

Detectives yesterday issued an appeal for information and an E-fit of a man they were keen to trace in connection with six incidents, which they believe to be linked.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police today confirmed a 62-year-old man from the Bebington area has been arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure.

The arrest comes after three incidents of indecent exposure on January 14 between 5pm and 6pm in the Bebington Road area.

Two of them involved teenage girls who were walking home from school while the third happened as a woman walked along the road.

Police were also investigated a further three incidents which took place on March 6.

The first took place at around 11.55am on Bebington Road, the second on Willowbank Road at around 3.40pm and the final incident took place on Broadway, Bebington.

CCTV from the area is being sought and police are working with school officers in the area to ensure safety advice is being given to pupils.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “Following an appeal for information regarding a number of indecent exposures in the Tranmere area, detectives have arrested a 62-year-old man from the Bebington area on suspicion of indecent exposure.

"He has been taken into police custody where he will be questioned.”
