AN Ellesmere Port man has appeared in court following an incident at a busy supermarket on Friday.
Michael John Luscombe, of Cannon Street, did not enter a plea when he appeared before Chester magistrates court on Saturday.
The 59-year-old has been charged with wounding a police officer, assault by beating, criminal damage and affray.
Police were called to Asda, at Market Square, shortly after midday on Friday, March 7 following reports of a man causing disturbance.
The store was evacuated as the man allegedly threw bottles and brandished a knife.
Officers used an “incapacitant spray” before arresting him.
Luscombe – who was charged in the early hours of Saturday morning following the incident – was remanded in custody by magistrates and will appear at Chester Crown Court on March 18.
