DOZENS of Wirral women gathered at the Pyramids Shopping Centre in Birkenhead today to champion breastfeeding.
The event is the first in a series of nine taking place across Merseyside and Cheshire which aim to raise awareness and “normalise” the public’s views on breastfeeding.
Councillor Chris Meaden, Wirral Council cabinet member for health and wellbeing said: “I am delighted that the launch of this campaign is in Birkenhead.
“The events are an excellent opportunity for people to talk to other mums and health care professionals who have first-hand experience of the benefits of breastfeeding.
“Lots of information will be available and I hope that as many people as possible come along to share their experiences and find out more about the support available.”
The events are part of the re-launch of the “Breast Milk It’s Amazing” campaign, which is led by Cheshire and Merseyside Directors of Public Health and Liverpool City Region Child Poverty and Life Chances Commission.
