FIRE crews were called to a flat in Ponsonby Road, Wallasey, in the early hours of this morning to extinguish a blaze in a fuse box.
A woman was checked at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.
Smoke alarms had been fitted by Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and had activated.
Crews from Wallasey and Birkenhead fire stations attended the scene.
They were there for around an hour. The flat was damaged by smoke.
