WIRRAL Citizens Advice Bureau is to open its doors to clients at two Wirral Council One Stop Shops.

Drop in sessions have already begun at West Kirby Concourse and a new facility at Rock Ferry is being fitted out and will open to clients in a few weeks.

Wirral CAB previously had offices in New Ferry and West Kirby, but due to severe financial pressures, they were forced to close early last year.

Chairman Philip Howley said: "Not only is having a presence in these facilities good for the Bureau at a time of continuing severe financial challenges, but it’s also good for the public, who can access a wider range of helpful services under one roof".

Wirral Council leader, Cllr Phil Davies, said: "This service will greatly enhance the range of information and advice available to the public."

CAB assessors are available between 10am and 4pm every Thursday.

Appointments are not required, with clients being seen on a first come, first served basis.

Private interview rooms are available where clients can raise issues with advisors in a completely confidential environment The vast majority of advisors that the Bureau utilise are volunteers.

Over 110 volunteers currently offer their services to the Bureau, and will be providing the services at these two One Stop Shops.

A CAB spokesman said: "When a client attends the drop in session, they will be given a short interview to assess how best we can help them, and will then be offered information or an appointment where appropriate.

"In due course it is hoped that the Bureau will be able to open on more days, but in the first instance we are gauging the level of interest at the two sites before making any firm decisions."
