WOODCHURCH Road in Prenton eastbound was closed to motorists for more than three hours last night after an over-height wagon struck the railway bridge and became jammed beneath it.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6pm following reports of the accident, involving a Home Bargains delivery wagon.

The incident affected traffic from the M53's Junction 3 roundabout to Prenton Dell Road.

The driver was out of the vehicle by the time emergency services arrived. An ambulance was sent to the scene, but the driver did not require treatment.

The road reopened at around 9.30pm.
