THE line-up for Wirral's 10th Folk On The Coast music festival has been revealed.

The Seth Lakeman Band, Karine Polwart Band, Martyn Joseph, The Poozies, Elbow Jane are among the headline acts of this year’s showcase - taking place from June 5-8 at Whitby Sports and Social Club in Ellesmere Port.

Also among the 150 performers taking part are Spinners' legends Hughie Jones, Mick Groves and John McCormick, The Young’uns, Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston and BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winners Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar.

Buzz Hawkins, a well-known voice on Radio Merseyside’s The Bradshaws, will also feature.

The festival's co-director John Owen said: "We are delighted once again to be able to present this super not for profit family event and we would implore anyone interested in supporting live music to get along to see what we have to offer. You will not be disappointed.

"It is a magnificent family occasion when all that is best in contemporary and traditional folk and acoustic music is presented by national and local artistes of the highest order and well known to folk music enthusiasts."

Formerly located at the OC Club in Bromborough, the festival became so popular that larger premises were sought. It moved to its present home in 2011.

Previous acts include Barbara Dickson, Richard Digance, Show of Hands, Dougie Maclean and Harvey Andrews.

The festival opens on the night of Thursday, June 5 with a ‘Sing in the Festival’ Open Mic night in the Oak Room.

The entertainment programme starts the following afternoon and runs right through to 11-30pm on the Sunday evening.

There will be five main stage concerts in the large concert hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings with afternoon concerts during the weekend.

In addition a large set of fringe events will take place including mini concerts, open mic, sing-around / sing-a-long sessions and instrument training workshops.

There will also be tributes to Donovan, The Beatles and George Formby and entertainment from Morris Dance teams.

A craft fair will also be located both inside and outside of the main building.

In addition, on Friday afternoon there will be an optional scenic coach tour of the Wirral for weekend ticket holders at a small extra cost.
