SOUTH Parade in West Kirby has been closed for a second time today as a precaution against risk of coastal flooding.

The road was closed earlier today when strong winds combined with high tides at midday caused flood water to flow onto the promenade. It was later re-opened.

It will now remain closed until tomorrow. Highways inspectors will monitor the conditions and re-open the road once risk of flooding has subsided.

The council says it is working closely with its partners including Merseyside Police and the Environment Agency to monitor the situation and is ready to react promptly should the weather cause any issues.

Highways inspectors will monitor the conditions and re-open the road when the risk of some flooding has subsided.

In addition to South Parade, the following locations may also be affected over the weekend:

  • North Parade, Hoylake
  • Meols Parade, Meols
  • Kings Parade and Ian Fraser Walk, New Brighton
  • The Dell, New Ferry.
