STRONG winds, combined with high tides and waves could lead to coastal flooding in Wirral today.
The council is working closely with its partners including Merseyside Police and the Environment Agency to monitor the situation and says it is ready to react promptly should the weather cause any issues.
South Parade and adjacent roads in West Kirby are very likely to be affected by some flooding, particularly either side of the midday high tide.
The following locations may also be affected:
- North Parade, Hoylake,
- Meols Parade, Meols,
- Kings Parade and Ian Fraser Walk, New Brighton
- The Dell, New Ferry
Regular updates, including details of any road closures that may have to be implemented as a result of the conditions, are on the council's website www.wirral.gov.uk/news/01-02-2014/road-closures.
Mersey Ferries' services are currently running normally.
