MORE than 100 women have so far signed up for this year's Wirral Race For Life in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The Globe-backed event takes place in Birkenhead Park on Sunday, July 27.

Last year, 3443 women took part in the Wirral event, raising £153,104.

Organisers hope 3600 women and girls will stride out this time, with a target of £350,000.

So far 113 have registered for the Wirral event.

The Globe has been Race For Life's official newspaper since 2006.

Jennifer Ward, Cancer Research UK's Wirral events manager, said: "We're calling on Wirral / Merseyside’s mighty-mums, gutsy-grans, feisty friends and go-getting girls to join our formidable army and take on cancer at this year's Race for Life.

"We know how committed Wirral women can be when they really make up their minds to do something.

"We want to harness that power to stop cancer in its tracks, by raising money for life-saving research."

Everyone who takes part in Race for Life, from the participants themselves to the millions of supporters who sponsor and encourage them, becomes part of a powerful collective force rising up to beat cancer sooner.

Proceeds from Race for Life will are used Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists to advance research which is helping to save the lives of men, women and children across the North West.
