THE future of a special needs school that faces closure will be discussed at a public meeting next month, chaired by Wirral South MP Alison McGovern.

Wirral Council dropped a bombshell in December when it announced it was to begin closure procedures at Lyndale School after a predicted “budget shortfall” of £72,000.

Despite pleas from parents, the council’s ruling cabinet gave the go-ahead to consult on the closure of the Eastham school earlier this month.

February 13 will see Alison McGovern MP chair a public meeting, giving those concerned a chance to share their views.

Ms McGovern said: “With the commencement of the consultation period on the future of Lyndale School I want to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to contribute to the process.

“Everyone who has an interest in the school and who is concerned about educational provision for Wirral’s most severely disabled children is invited to attend.”

The meeting takes place in South Wirral High School’s drama studio from 6pm.

Those interested in attending should email alison@alisonmcgovern.org.uk or call 0151 645 6590 to register in advance.
