A team of experts from Wirral CAB will be offering advice next week on how people can take the sting out of crippling fuel bills.

It is part of Big Energy Saving Week – a national awareness campaign to help people cut the cost of fuel and get the financial support they are entitled to.

Key messages of the campaign will be for consumers to check they are on the best tariff and payment method; shop around for the best deal and make their homes more energy efficient through insulation, which could save up to £320 a year.

Damon Taylor, chief executive of Wirral CAB, said “Our team of advisers will be on hand to provide clients with valuable information and support about how they can reduce the impact of crippling fuel bills.

“We’re really keen to make sure that no-one pays a penny more than they need to on energy costs.

"Recent figures have shown that fuel prices have increased by around 36% in the last three years, so we hope that the added support we can offer will be welcome relief to the many people feeling the pinch.”

Clients calling into the CAB during the week will be able to receive information about energy saving, as well as take away material which gives tips on reducing household energy bills.
