Cheshire West and Chester Council is staging a special online event where residents can ask questions to executive members about their budget proposals.

Former BBC political commentator Jim Hancock will host the webcast and ask the five council directors about their “visions for the future” of their services.

Viewers will then be asked for more questions which will be put to members of the executive, who will answer them live on air.

In the final stages, viewers will be able to vote online on council priorities. The council needs to make further savings of £49m over the next three years.

A consultation document containing details of the draft budget proposals has been published on the council’s website and hard copies are available from libraries and many other council buildings.

People can also take part in the consultation by completing the feedback form included with the document either online or by sending comments to the Research and Intelligence Team, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Goldsmith House, Hamilton Place, Chester CH1 1SE. The closing date is February 9.
