DETECTIVES have released CCTV stills of a man wanted in connection with an alleged hate crime at a convenience store in Birkenhead.
On the night of Friday, November 29 last year a man entered the Best Price store on Grange Road West.
Whilst inside he made derogatory remarks about the ethnicity of the staff, and stole a bottle of wine, before leaving the premises.
Although uninjured the staff have been left very shaken following the incident. Detectives believe the man pictured may be able to help them with their enquiries and would urge him or anyone who recognises him to contact the police.
Det Cons Tony Jones said: "We are dedicated to stamping out racist and any other type of hate crime on Merseyside.
"This kind of behaviour is clearly unacceptable and we aim to take positive action to put offenders before the courts.
"Merseyside Police will not tolerate hate crime incidents and robust action will be taken to ensure offenders are arrested and prosecuted for their actions".
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Wirral SIGMA Hate Crime Unit on 0151 777 2884, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
