A BUS driver was taken to hospital with facial injuries after he was attacked by two teenagers while working in Moreton.

At about 7.30pm on Friday, January 17, police were called to Chadwick Street following reports that the 54-year-old driver had been attacked.

Witnesses said two men got on the 423 service to Seacombe and verbally abused the driver when they presented an invalid ticket.

When the driver opened the security screen the two assaulted him. A number of witnesses intervened to stop the assault and police were called.

Police attended, witnesses have been spoken with and CCTV from the bus and local area is being examined.

The driver was taken to hospital for treatment to a facial injury.

The first man wanted by police is described white, about 16-years-old, 6ft tall, of a slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a black coat with a fur-lined hood.

The second is described as white, about 16-years-old, 5ft 9in, of a medium build with a shaven head. He was wearing a green padded coat.

Detective Inspector Mark Tivendale, said: "This was an extremely unpleasant and nasty incident committed against a bus driver who was simply doing his job.

"We take incidents of this nature very seriously and I would like to thank the members of the public who helped the driver and called police.

"They have been a great help in providing information about the incident.

"I would also like to appeal to anyone who has any information about the incident to contact police as they might have important information for our enquiries."
