A LARGE cannabis factory was uncovered after four people were arrested in Wallasey on Thursday.

Merseyside Police uncovered 100 plants and cultivation equipment at the factory in a rural cottage on Friday, just a day after a raid on a home in Molyneux Drive led to the arrest of four people.

Officers executed a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at the Wallasey address, where they found a substantial amount of cannabis as well as smaller amounts of cocaine and cash.

Four people who were inside the property at the time – three men aged 52, 21 and 16 and a woman aged 50 – were arrested on suspicion of the possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply and possession of a controlled drug.

Further enquiries at the Wirral address led police to a cottage close to the village of Corwen in North Wales.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “When they searched a large outbuilding at the back of the cottage they discovered a large cannabis farm containing around 100 mature plants. Cannabis cultivation equipment was also found inside the cottage itself.

“The cottage and outbuilding were cordoned off and officers from North Wales Police carried out forensic investigations at the scene and removed the cannabis plants.”

The 52-year-old man was further arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation but has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries, along with the 21-year-old and 16-year-old man.

The 50-year-old woman has been released and will face no further action.
