Nine people arrested yesterday on suspicion of being concerned with the supply of a controlled drug have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Seven search warrants were executed by the Matrix Serious Organised Crime team in Wallasey, Moreton, Meols, Old Swan,Paisley and the Midlands.

As a result of information gathered following the operation, searches were carried out at two further addresses - one in West Derby, the other in Meols.

Two men, aged 58 and 60, from the Meols area, three 50-year-old men from Old Swan, Moreton and Knowsley Village, a 50-year-old woman from Wallasey and a 45-year-old man from Paisley in Scotland, and two men aged 45 and 34, from Childwall and Wirral respectively, who were arrested in the Midlands, are currently being questioned.

Police say the street value of the five kilos of heroin seized as part of this investigation is £50,000 which, when cut with “adulterant” has the potential to yield £10m profit.
