WIRRAL actress and comedienne Pauline Daniels will stage a special show to promote cancer awareness later this month.

Her “Comedy Cracker” takes place at the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight on January 26.

It is a show of special significance for the Birkenhead-based entertainer, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

She has been through surgery, is now cancer free and is due to undertake follow-up treatment.

The Gladstone date is, she said, a chance to use "tumour humour" as a way of spreading the word on how important it is for people diagnosed with the disease to get help as soon as possible.

Her aim is to take the show on tour to promote cancer awareness.

Proceeds will be donated to Clatterbridge Hospital, where she was treated.

Pauline told the Globe: "The show is my way of saying a major thank you to Clatterbridge for the help they gave me and for what they have done for others.

"A mammogram saved my life, so I want to use my experience in my act and make people know how important it really is that they all go for this test.

"Yes, I do intend to be blunt but sometimes it's the only way that people will listen.

"Hopefully through laughter, which is definitely the best medicine, the message will get through.

"I really do want to campaign for early mammograms and I have some very influential people on my side and ready to help all survivors of this dreadful disease.

"So it's all systems go once my treatment is over and I do intend to write a whole new act and will start it off at the Gladstone Theatre.”

Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, are from the box office on 0151 643 8757 or
