Beauty queens bring "Fro Yo" to Wirral
TWO Wirral beauty queens are hoping their latest venture will encourage people to stick to their guns this new year and opt for a healthier alternative to those left-over Christmas treats.
Sisters Stephanie and Charlotte Hodson – who have held titles including Miss Northwest, Miss Cheshire and Europe’s Miss Perfect – opened the Yog Bar in Hoylake in November.
The business, owned by 25-year-old Stephanie and run by 22-year-old Charlotte, is Wirral’s first ever frozen yoghurt bar and the sisters hope it will prove that you can have a treat without piling on the pounds.
“We fell in love with frozen yoghurt and wanted to bring it to Wirral,” said nutritionist Stephanie, who spent 18 months researching the market before opening the Market Street bar – which offers an alternative to fatty and calorific ice-cream.
“It’s a healthy alternative,” she explained.
“We call it FroYo.”
Although winter is not the traditional time for frozen yoghurt and ice-cream, the duo say they have seen a real buzz following the opening event, which saw dozens of people enjoying cupcakes, balloons and a ribbon-cutting event from Esther McVey MP.
“Everyone asks why we’ve opened in winter but we’ve got the Golf Open coming up Hoylake in the summer so hopefully that’s going to be really busy and get people coming in.
“I have never done anything like this before so opening now gives us time to work through teething problems.”
