A WIRRAL woman was taken to hospital after she crashed her car into a road sign and lamppost in Liverpool, causing delays during Wednesday morning’s rush hour.

The 40-year-old woman, believed to be from the Upton area, escaped without injury after her silver BMW 525 saloon left the East Lancashire Road in Croxteth, close to its junction with Stonebridge Lane, at around 7.25am.

She was taken to hospital as a precaution and was treated for shock after a passer-by called an ambulance.

Although the road remained open, the accident caused delays for motorists, with tailbacks as far as the M57.
