AN unconscious woman was rescued after fire broke out at her Wallasey home in the early hours of Boxing Day.
Fire crews were called at around 1.45am to Breckside Avenue, Wallasey Village.
The fire was in a bedroom in the property.
Group manager Paul Murphy said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man and found a woman inside the property on the first-floor.
"The woman was unconscious and was carried out of the building by firefighters.
"She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Arrowe Park Hospital. Firefighters stopped the fire from spreading.
"There were no smoke alarms in the property. We urge people to have working smoke alarms on each level of their home.”
An investigation is underway into the cause of the blaze.
Crews from Birkenhead, Upton and Kirkdale firestations attended; the fire was extinguished at around 3.15am.
