WALLASEY Constituency Committee is inviting groups to bid for cash to fund community projects in the Wallasey area.

£15,000 has been made available, and bids up to a value of £500 are invited for projects that focus on a number of priorities, including reducing social isolation, improving road safety, and reducing the impact of welfare reforms, including fuel and food poverty.

In addition £25,000 is available from Public Health, for bids up to a value of £3,000, to fund projects tackling the impact of welfare reforms, including excess winter deaths and child poverty.

Wallasey is one of four constituency teams, each representing one of Wirral's four constituencies.

Each has a constituency budget of £50,000, supplemented with a further £50,000 funding from Public Heath, and members determine where that money should be spent, according to each area’s priorities.

The teams have already been active in the communities they serve, working with agencies such as police, health, community and voluntary groups to tackle problems together.

Wallasey launches its ‘Bright Ideas’ Fund on December 20. People have until January 24 to apply. If approved, the money will cover projects from April 2014 to December 31, 2014.

Councillor Rob Gregson, Chairman of the Wallasey committee, said: "Members of our group would like to hear from people who have good ideas that can help alleviate some of the social issues that have been identified as needing support.

"We have organised a series of community 'drop in' sessions where people can speak with Wallasey Constituency's Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, ask questions and seek help filling in the application form.

"We hope to see as many people as possible, even if just to chat about their ideas."

Further advice and guidance can be obtained at the following ‘drop in’ sessions early in the New Year or visit
