TRANMERE Rovers boss Ronnie Moore said his players need to forget about the 5-0 FA Cup defeat at Peterborough and aim to put things right against Carlisle United this Saturday.
The squad have other issues to contend with as well – the arrests of Akpo Sodje and Ian Goodison as part of an investigation by the National Crime Agency into betting fraud allegations made in a Sunday newspaper.
It is understood the pair are unlikely to make the trip to Carlisle and were meeting with Rovers chairman Peter Johnson and other club officials this morning.
Moore wants to focus his players’ minds on the job in hand and aims to build on a run of just one defeat in seven league matches.
The manager said: “We’ve spoken about the Peterborough game and if you look at the individual errors, they cost us dearly.
"But it’s gone and there’s nothing we can do about it.
“What we can do is go to Carlisle with the right attitude, the right determination and the right shape.
"There’s no reason we can’t go there and win. If we play to the best of our ability we’ve got a hell of a chance.
"They’re a footballing team and we’ve got to be on our toes and at our best to get something.
“We’ve got a good squad of players, a strong squad and players who can sit on the bench and change games.
“Carlisle are in and around where we are, and if we can go there and get a result then it will lift us.”
