Stanney Fields Park in Neston is to be given a £75,000 makeover.

The Dell area of the park, which has been under-utilised in the past and in need of improvements, will see a crazy-paving pathway being replaced with a spray and chip path and a new pedestrian bridge over a section of the brook.

The popular BMX Wheels Park will have three new ramps and a skateboard “grind rail” installed.

Other improvements include new seating, bins, picnic tables and soft landscaping.

Neston ward councillor Andy Williams said: “I’m delighted to announce our park is to benefit from these much-needed improvements.

“The council consulted with residents earlier in the year and the works we see now are a direct result of the community really getting involved in the development of this project.

“Local young people shared their views and I hope they are pleased with the improvements being made to the wheels park.”

The £75,000 project has been funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Veolia Environmental Trust, which awarded a grant of £25,000.

The trust's executive director, Paul Taylor, said: “The improvements will make the park a pleasant and accessible place where the whole community can meet up, enjoy the outdoors, and relax or exercise. I look forward to seeing the completed results.”
