TRADE Unionists are set to converge on Wallasey town hall tonight for a mass demonstration about Wirral Council’s proposed cuts.

Cabinet is due to discuss the findings of the council’s ‘What Really Matters’ consultation today, Tuesday, and make recommendations about where some £27.5m of savings should be found in the coming financial year.

The recommendations will then go to full council on Monday, December 16.

Town hall union Unison plans to lobby next week’s meeting too.

It issued a rallying call ahead of the meetings, stating: “These are the meetings which will make the final decisions on the proposed cuts in your jobs, the services you provide and the severance scheme.

“Don’t rely on others – make sure you are there.”

The cabinet meeting starts at 6.15pm today, Tuesday, at Wallasey Town Hall.
