A Wirral man accused of historic child abuse allegations has denied any wrong doing.
Paul Cleary, 61, is on trial at Liverpool Crown Court facing 22 charges of indecent assault and indecency with a child.
The offences were allegedly committed on a regular basis spanning three years in the 1970s.
The father-of-two is alleged to have made the girls do handstands and then abused them.
They claim he played a game of guessing what colour his underwear was and suggesting their parents may be emotionally hurt if they revealed what was happening.
Questioned by his barrister Eric Lamb, Cleary denied claims that when confronted he had told his wife about his guilt.
Mr Lamb, asked: “Did you ever assault them sexually?”
He replied: “Absolutely not.”
“Did you ever say to either of them you didn’t want your mum hurt?” asked Mr Lamb.
“No I would never say anything like that,” replied Cleary, who came back from Canada, where he has been living, to face the allegations, is on bail at an address in Greasby.
