Pledge to promote hospice care in Wirral
A PLEDGE has been made to spread the word about hospice care in Wirral as part of a national campaign.
Wirral Clinical Commissiong Group and Wirral Hospice St John's promised to tell at least five people about how important and valuable Hospice services are.
It was part of National Hospice Care week, a campaign involving more than 100 hospices.
Sarah Quinn, commissioning manager for Wirral CCG, said: "Supporting those living with cancer and other non-malignant conditions and caring for needs of those dying from these illnesses are amongst our main priorities.
"We want people living in on Wirral to think about the difficult choices that need to be considered when facing life threatening illness and to help them be aware of the options available to them.
"We have taken the pledge to raise awareness about Hospice Care locally because we are committed to working with clinicians and health professionals to make sure that those in need of end of life, or palliative care as it is known, can have the choice to receive this at the local hospice, Wirral Hospice St John’s, or in the comfort of their own homes through their Hospice@Home initiative".
Julie Gory, chief executive of Wirral Hospice St John's added: "As the local provider of Hospice services for adults on Wirral, we want to make sure that people know about our quality services and if they are affected by life limiting illnesses, that we are here to help with end of life care for patients, families, carers and those who matter to patients."
