11:58am Wednesday 23rd October 2013 in News
A Wirral teacher chose a New Brighton bookshop to launch his debut writing work during National Children's Book Week.
Michael Ryan's first picture book, aimed at children up to the age of seven, is called Edward the Vampire and is set in New Brighton and dedicated to all things that go 'fang in the night.'
He told the Wirral Globe:" I am new to all this.
"But it's great to have your first book in a shop window and the thought of doing readings is another great aspect.
"It's encouraging to have such support from the Globe - it is all very special to me."
Michael, from Higher Bebington, added: “The timing is great. I am looking forward to Halloween when the book, I hope will capture imaginations."
Michael, a teacher at Townfield Primary School in Prenton, was inspired by his two sons, James, four, and River, two.
Now the author has finished the sequel called 'Edward And Luna.'
And he's over the moon...
"It's an exciting time and I want to take the characters even further."
Edward The Vampire (£3.99) can be bought from Literally, New Brighton, where Mike will be popping in for a chat on Thursday, October 24, at 3pm.
Books also on sale at: Linghams in Heswall and Oxton Village Books.
Michael has also signed copies as raffle prizes for Claire House for this year's Golden Globes Awards next month.
