Pensioners' knife ordeal outside Wirral railway station
9:14am Wednesday 23rd October 2013 in News
A TEENAGER has been charged with knife-point robbery after allegedly threatening two elderly women outside a Wirral train station.
The two women - aged 80 and 77 - were in their car outside Bebington train station late on Monday night after an evening in Liverpool, when a man opened the driver's door.
Police say the pair were threatened with a knife and ordered to get out of the car.
The vehicle was then driven off but after the victims called police, the Ford KA was stopped by officers in the Birkenhead Tunnel and the driver arrested.
The two women were left shaken but unhurt following their ordeal.
A 19-year-old man from Sefton has been charged with robbery and dangerous driving and kept in custody to appear before Wirral Magistrates Court in Birkenhead this morning.
