A man died after being struck by a train on the Wirral railway line last night.
The incident happened at 11.20pm at the Carlton Lane crossing between Meols and Moreton.
British Tranpsort Police officers attended along with paramedics, who pronounced the man dead at the scene.
A BTP spokesman said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.
Power to the track was cut off and a replacement bus service set up between West Kirby and Birkenhead North.
