Globe readers praised for 'overwhelming response' to Wirral Poppy Appeal
THE organisers of this year's Poppy Appeal have had an 'overwhelming response' from Globe readers volunteering to help raise funds.
The Royal British Legion is calling on people to come forward to give just two hours of their time to help make this coming Appeal the biggest and best ever.
A Globe cry for readers to help this year's Poppy Appeal resulted in responses from readers of all ages across Wirral interested in doing their bit for the charity.
Julie Dove, the charity's community fundraiser for Cheshire said: "I am thrilled with the response we have had to this article and touched by the numbers of people on the Wirral who want to support our Armed Forces community by collecting for the Poppy Appeal.
"All ages have responded from students aged 16 to a lady of 90, all keen to join the Wirral Poppy team this year.
"Grateful thanks to the Wirral Globe who are strong supporters of the Poppy Appeal.
More than 40 million poppies will be made and distributed across the County and overseas by more than 350,000 collectors, aiming to raise £37million.
Julie Dove continued: "Every poppy helps The Royal British Legion to support the Armed Forces past and present and their families and a whopping £1.6 million is spent each week on delivering direct practical care and support to our Armed Forces community."
If you want to show your respect and support of our Armed Forces family by volunteering two hours of your time in October and November email Julie Dove on email@example.com or call 07768 238875
