Last chance to nominate members of Wirral constituency committees
10:24am Friday 27th September 2013 in News
THE deadline is looming to nominate member of Wirral's new constituency committees.
The new committees will replace the present 11 area forums, which are to be disbanded.
Three of Wirral’s four new Constituency Committees - in Wallasey, Wirral West and Wirral South - are currently appointing Community Representatives. Birkenhead's will follow later this year.
If appointed, you will be part of a Constituency Committee, making important decisions about the future of your area, and working with partner organisations and individuals to really make a difference.
The final date to apply is Monday next week (September 30) so this is a last call before the deadline!
The Constituency Committees are part of Wirral’s new neighbourhood working approach, which brings together organisations such as the local authority, police, health groups, businesses, and community and voluntary organisations to tackle issues at source, focussing resources at the specific needs of individual areas.
By focusing on early intervention on problems such as crime, anti-social behaviour, health and supporting families, the organisations and individuals involved can really make a difference.
There are six seats available in Wallasey, five in Wirral South, and five in Wirral West.
To apply, you should be 16 or over, and have the time to devote to the role, however, full training and support will be given. Further details are in the nomination packs which can be obtained from Annette Roberts, Voluntary and Community Action Wirral (VCAW), 220-224 Liscard Road, Wallasey, Wirral, CH44 5TN, Tel: 0151 353 9700.
Applications should be returned no later than NOON on September 30.
Selection panels will be made up of Councillors, the Council’s Constituency Managers, and VCAW Officers.
