Dorothy's 100th birthday gift to Wirral charities
A WIRRAL grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday with a party that raised £600 for local charities.
Not wanting any presents Dorothy Backhouse, from Greasby, asked guests to donate to one or other of her favourite charities - RNLI or Clatterbridge Hospital League of Friends.
Dorothy was joined by her were three sons Keith, Rod and Graham, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other family members and friends.
She also received a card from the Queen by special delivery together with a card from works and pensions minister Iain Duncan Smith.
Dorothy moved to the flat 28 years ago when her husband, Stanley died.
She was a very active member of The League of Friends for about forty years being honoured with Life Membership in 2005.
