Globe's 40th birthday is icing on the cake!
WIRRAL’S favourite free newspaper celebrated our 40th anniversary by donating a specially-made Wirral Globe cake to children and staff at Claire House Hospice.
Lauren Knights, the hospice’s communications chief, praised our readers for their fantastic generosity over the years: “The Globe and its thousands of readers have always been really supportive of Claire House.
“It’s brilliant to be able to help such a community-focused organisation such as the Globe celebrate their birthday as we look forward to celebrating a significant anniversary of our own. The hospice will be 15 years old in 2014.
“The newspaper has always been really helpful, spreading the word of Wirral’s local children’s hospice.
“We couldn’t do without the Globe and the support of their readers. Their help is absolutely vital in enabling us to raise the £2.7m a year we need to run the hospice.
“We sincerely thank your readers for all their kind-hearted support.”
Lesley Steel, from Wirral-based Innovative Creations, kindly made our celebratory cake in a major bake-off that took her more than 40 hours!
