Thousands celebrate Port Sunlight founder's day
THOUSANDS of people visited Port Sunlight over the weekend for festival marking the village’s 125th anniversary.
Among the entertainment for some 35,000 visitors were displays from regional food and craft producers, chef demonstration stage, vintage entertainment and children's rides, a fun dog show, a vintage and classic car display, and live music.
The village was founded by Bolton-born businessman William Hesketh Lever in 1888.
Visitors, residents, employees and all those with an interest in the village were invited to share their memories and stories of the village over the years on Facebook
Katherine Lynch of the Port Sunlight Village Trust and manager of Port Sunlight said: "The sun shone on us all weekend and overall, its been an amazing two days.
"There's been an overwhelming family feel to the whole event.
"I'd like to thank everybody for making the event happen and we’ve proved that we can deliver outdoor festivals to match some of the largest and most successful of this type in the country."
