Courageous friends bare all for second breast cancer fundraising calendar

A GROUP of courageous friends have stripped off in a bid to raise vital cash for charity.
The women, whose ages range from 22-to-60, have bared all for a special calendar to raise money for Macmillan nurses at Clatterbridge and the Marina Dalglish Appeal.
The project follows last year’s successful calendar which raised a massive £6,000 for Breast Cancer Breakthrough and Breast Cancer Research and the team are hoping to beat that figure this year.
And organiser Estelle Costello from New Brighton said this year is extra special as every woman taking part has survived the disease or is still battling it.
She said: “We never expected the first calendar to be so successful and people have been asking us to do another one so we thought ‘why not?’
“Every one of the ten women involved has first-hand experience of breast cancer and some are still having treatment even now.
"I wasn’t going to take part again this time but the girls have all persuaded me so we’re all in it together.
“We’re really hoping to beat last year’s total – we’re very lucky as the photographer and printer are giving their services for free so all proceeds can go directly to these very important charities.”
Each woman will pose nude for their own month with themed props covering their modesty, while the whole group will then come together in one shot for December.
And Estelle is hoping the wide range of ages of those taking part will help to raise awareness among all women, young and old.
Estelle, 53, said: “Our youngest girl is just 22 and she is actually the youngest woman in the north west to be diagnosed with breast cancer.
"We want to get the message across that this isn’t a disease that is exclusive to older women – it can happen at any age.
“As well as raising money we want people to be more aware of the signs and what to look out for.”
