Book and pay or you don't get to play - new cash up front policy for Wirral leisure centres

SPORTS and keep-fit enthusiasts will soon have to hand over cash before they can book an activity at Wirral Council lesiure centres.
The cash-strapped council has announced that from September 2, all leisure centres will be putting in place a "book and pay" policy demanding up-front payments.
It is hoped that this will improve attendance at classes and reduce numbers of people who book activities but don’t turn up for them.
The council says it will also make booking and paying for classes quicker and easier.
To accompany the new system, the authority is introducing an increased choice of payment methods including an online facility.
The council's cancellation policy will still apply to all bookings, whether made online or directly through a centre.
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before time of the session booked or will be liable for the full hire charge.
For Invigor8 members, missed classes and activities or late cancellations will incur a charge of £2.25, which will be applied to an individual's account.
To find out more, ask at reception in any council leisure centre, or visit sportbooking.wirral.gov.uk.
