Wirral shop staff to hold in-store beach party for carers' charity
11:05am Tuesday 20th August 2013 in News
STAFF from a Wirral foodstore will put on their sun hats and shades for an in-store beach party for The Carers Trust later this week.
The team, from Co-operative Food store in Church Road, Birkenhead, will raise funds for its charity of the year on Friday.
All proceeds will help the organisation in its work to tackle feelings of isolation and to provide desperately needed breaks, information, advice and support for 14 to 25 year olds facing the challenges of caring for a loved one.
The Co-operative hopes to raise £5million this year, money which will help fund programmes such as "Time Out", a scheme that provides young carers with residential breaks, giving them a chance to focus on their ambitions, putting their own physical health and mental well-being first.
Laura Bridger, manager of the Church Road branch, said: "We hope that all our customers will visit the store on Friday to join in the beach-themed fun.
"It's great to think that while we’re creating a holiday atmosphere in store we’ll be raising funds to provide much needed breaks for young carers across the UK.
"We're determined to keep the fundraising momentum going and are planning more events before the year is out."
