A FORMER schoolteacher who introduced current James Bond star Daniel Craig to acting is among the guests at this year's Wirral Bookfest.

Popular war and romance writer Hilary Green, who taught drama at Hilbre School in Newton, will hosting an afternoon at Rock Ferry Library on  Monday, October 7.

She will reminisce about her writing, her long career as a teacher of drama and theatre studies and the proud moment she introduced Chester-born Daniel to acting.

'Flash-fiction' author David Gaffney will talk about his favourite style of writing, labeled 'micro-fiction' or 'short short stories' during a special event at Wallasey Central Library. 

Upton Library plays host to Helen Walsh, author of ‘Brass’ and the Somerset Maugham-prizewinning ‘Once Upon A Time in England’ on Friday, October 11th October at 11am.

Helen will lead a workshop for prospective writers, talking through the process of starting to write your own novel. Helen Walsh’s fiction has been described as ‘less a cry from the heart than a bellow from the guts’.

Cllr Chris Meaden, cabinet Mmember for health and wellbeing said: "It's really exciting to be able to announce details of more events for Bookfest 2013.

"Last year we saw audiences pack in to see writers and poets from around the country give special performances, lectures and book signing events and this year will be no different."

All three events are free to attend but booking is essential as space is limited.

Already announced for Bookfest 2013 is Roger McGough - Liverpudlian poet, translator, writer of the Beatles animated film Yellow Submarine, presenter of Radio 4’s Poetry Please and former member of Sixties chart-toppers The Scaffold.

Wirral Libraries’ ‘Bookfest 2013’ takes place from  October 7-13. Booking details and many more events will be announced in the coming months.
