WHILE the nation celebrates the arrival of a new prince, Wirral mums are also waking up with their little bundles of joy.

The world’s press are on tenterhooks waiting for the first glimpse of the Prince of Cambridge, whose name has not been announced yet, after he was delivered at St Mary’s Hospital in London at 4.24pm on Monday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stayed over at the hospital with their son but it is not yet known when they will be discharged.

But the posh Lindo Wing wasn’t the only place busy with expectant mums, as Arrowe Park Hospital welcomed 15 babies who now share a birthday with the future king.

Among them was little Charlie Melvin McDonough who pipped the new royal to the post, arriving at 11.55am.

Weighing in at 8lb13oz, he was 7oz heavier than his regal counterpart but mum Lynn ( pictured above with Charlie) said her children had a long-running parallel with the royal family.

Lynn, 45, said: “We’ve named him Charlie after my granddad so there’s no royal reason there but there is a definite connection to my other children as well. Obviously Charlie has been born on the same day as the new prince but my daughter Laura, 21, shares a birthday with Prince William while my other daughter Abbey, 16, was actually born on the same day Princess Diana sadly died.

“Everyone had been saying to me about Charlie coming the same day as Kate’s baby so we were listening out but when we heard the news, it was quite surreal.”

Other babies coming into the world on Monday were Sophie Ann Hawkins (pictured above with mum Lucy) who weighed 9lb 2oz while Jacob Gordon (pictured below with mum Leah) came in at a tiny 6lb5oz.

Little Sydney Tolman arrived just over an hour before the prince weighing 7lb5oz while Freddie Michael Derby (pictured below with mum Toni) was 8lb11oz.

Sydney’s mum, Chloe, 22 (pictured below with Sydney), said: “I wasn’t expecting to share the day with Kate as he was two weeks early but luckily I had everything ready! It’s mad that he was born just before the royal baby and it’s definitely something to remember and tell him when he grows up.”
