Armed robbers threaten staff with machete
ARMED robbers raided a Wirral shop threatening staff with a machete.
The incident happened at the Oasis Store, Balls Road, Birkenhead at 10.35pm on Saturday night.
Two men, one armed with a machete, entered the shop and escaped with cash.
Both men were white and wore dark clothing with their faces covered by scarves. The first man was aged between 25 and 30, around 6ft tall and of a medium build.
The second man was in his early 20s and was about 5ft 7in tall and thin.
Now officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and are particularly keen to talk to a man who came into the shop straight after the robbery and told staff that the men had escaped in a car.
The man left before police arrived, and officers are asking him to make contact with them.
Anyone with information can contact Wirral CID on 0151 777 2265 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
