ADVENTUROUS Globe readers are invited to join a team of cyclists preparing to take on the winding roads and mountain passes of Nepal for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Among the intrepid team setting off for the trip on November 2 are the charity's event manager Sam Archibald 39 and Paula Schofield 35, both from Wirral.

They are hoping 15 adventurers will join their team and make a real difference to the lives of their patients and families.

Sam said: "This will be my ninth cycle challenge and I am really looking forward to it.

"Without doubt you get to experience a region’s culture at its best from the saddle and this challenge is definitely going to be one of the toughest I’ve done.

"There will be plenty of hilly climbs to make sure we've earned every bit of the sponsor money we raise for Clatterbridge.

"Out of all the challenges I have completed, this one in particular is going to be special as I’ll be turning 40 shortly after.

"Some of my friends will be joining me on the challenge to celebrate my birthday and raise money for Clatterbridge, it would be amazing to get a team together and raise £40,000.

"What better motivation to get yourself fit than aiming towards a fantastic cycle adventure whilst supporting the only charity directly raising funds to benefit Clatterbridge cancer patients across the region?"

Paula Schofield decided to take part because she wanted to support Clatterbridge.

She said: "I have lost three close members of my family to various forms of cancer and more recently I lost a very close friend.

"She was so positive and determined to beat cancer and it was a huge shock to all who knew her when we lost her.

"Over the past few years I have lost over five stone in a bid to get fit again. I know this is going to be a tremendous challenge but I have over seven months to train so I know I can do it. If I don't do it now I never will."

The charity’s events team will be on hand to help with your fundraising and training, including organising training days.
