Thieves steal charity boxes from Wirral butcher's
THIEVES stole charity collection boxes from a Wirral butchers.
The incident, which saw the burglars take five boxes, happened at Muffs in Bromborough between 5pm last Tuesday night and 7am early the following morning.
Among the items stolen were boxes holding cash for the Air Ambulance and a local fundraising campaign.
Staff at Muffs had first reported the break-in as vandalism after they discovered the front window had been smashed but later realised the charity tins were also gone.
Stephen Muff, who runs the well-known award-winning business, said: “At first we thought it was just criminal damage but then we noticed the boxes were gone as well – it’s awful to steal from charity.
“I hope that whoever did this is pleased with themselves because they clearly have no morals at all. The Air Ambulance rely on donations to keep going so I just hope that none of their family ever has to use it.
“There’s no point even asking them to return the money because they are obviously not the kind of people who think about others.”
A police spokesman confirmed the burglary had been reported and that an investigation has been launched.
Anyone who was in the Allport Lane area of Bromborough last Tuesday night and may have seen people acting suspiciously can call the police on 101.
