Birkenhead store to have drinks licence reviewed
11:47am Monday 11th March 2013 in News
A WIRRAL off-licence is to have its permit to sell alcohol reviewed after an illegal immigrant was found working there.
News Days in Oxton Road, Birkenhead, will face the council’s licensing committee on Friday following an application from Merseyside Police to review its premises licence.
A report to the committee says the request came after officers discovered an illegal immigrant working at the store during a routine visit in January.
The shop is currently allowed to sell alcohol between 7am and 11pm, but councillors could decide to revoke their permit.
Other options would be to modify the licence, remove the designated premises supervisor or suspend the licence temporarily.
The committee will meet at Wallasey Town Hall at 1pm, on Friday
