Wirral Symphonic Wind Band
WIRRAL Symphonic Wind Band needs your help as it prepares for the final of a national competition.
The Moreton-based group travelled to Altrincham to compete in the regional final of the National Concert Band Festival, returning with the highest possible accolade - a Platinum Award.
They been invited to take part in the national final at Birmingham Conservatoire in April, and hope local sponsors will come forward to help them get there.
Musical director Scott Lloyd was delighted that the band have a chance to represent Wirral and the North West. He said: "This award has recognised the hard work and musical accomplishment of the band.
"We would like to say a big thank you to YOUR WIRRAL for their generous grant, contributing to instruments, music and transport, which made entry at the North West stage possible.
"The challenge is to repeat our success at the national level. We want very much to take part and would love to hear from anyone able and willing to provide sponsorship.”
The band will showcase its competition pieces during a special concert at Joseph Paxton Campus in Claughton on Monday, April 8, starting at 7.30pm. More details are from www.wswb.co.uk
The band is looking for individuals, companies or other organisations who would like to help put Wirral firmly on the culture map, to add to sponsorship already generously pledged by Veolia Environmental Services.
Anyone interested in helping can call band chairman Ali McGinity on 07974 562053, or wswb@hotmail.co.uk
