Gang confronted during robbery at Wirral pub
12:50pm Thursday 7th March 2013 in News By Craig Manning
A GANG of thieves was tackled by two women during a robbery at a Wirral pub.
Just after 9am on Wednesday, three men broke into the Bromborough pub on Bromborough Village Road.
While they were searching of the premises they were confronted by the manageress and a cleaner.
One of the women got into a struggle with one of the raiders, suffering injuries to her back and arm.
Although neither of the brave pair was seriously hurt, police say they have both been left shaken following their ordeal.
The men fled the pub with cash, running off along Spital Road in the direction of Croft Road.
The first man is, 5ft 10, of medium build with short fair hair and a chubby face. He spoke with a foreign accent and was wearing a beige baseball cap and a beige jacket.
The second is 5ft 9, of medium build with olive skin and short dark hair. He also spoke with a foreign accent and was wearing a navy blue tracksuit.
The third is described only as wearing dark coloured clothing.
CCTV footage has been released of one of the men wanted in connection with the robbery.
Detectives believe he could help them with their inquiries and would urge him or anyone who recognises him to contact them.
Detective Constable John Walton said: "We are absolutely determined to find these offenders so they cannot commit further crimes but we need the public's help in piecing together what happened before and after they committed this crime.
"Bromborough Village Road is a busy thoroughfare and I would appeal for people to cast their minds back and if they were out and about at that time and think they saw anything that in hindsight seems suspicious, to contact us with that information.
"I'd also like to reassure people that incidents like this are thankfully very rare and neighbourhood officers will be patrolling this area.
"Information that seems trivial to them may turn out to be crucial for us in catching these men."
Anyone who recognises the man pictured or has information about the raid should call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
