WIRRAL-born celebrity baker Paul Hollywood is set to showcase his talents in America.

The Great British Bake Off star has signed up to appear in an US version of the show called The American Baking Competition.

He will judge amateur bakers’ creations alongside Marcela Valladolid who specialises in Mexican cuisine and hosts her own series, Mexican Made Easy, on Food Network.

Paul grew up in Wallasey and is television's man of the moment.

One of the most sought-after celebritites in the UK, Paul gave up his time to appear at the Wirral Golden Globe Awards last November launched by the newspaper to honour the borough’s unsung heroes.

On the night, he told the 170-strong audience: “In the Bake-Off there are always losers whose efforts are flawed. There were no absolutely no losers here tonight and it has been a flawless event.

“Everyone who was nominated was a winner.”

And he announced his latest venture via his Twitter account last night as he excitedly told fans: “I am officially a judge on the USA version of Bake off! I'm still doing UK bake off....more info is at CBS website and twitter feed!”

He later tweeted in response to his followers’ fears that he may quit the British show, saying: “NO I'm not leaving the UK bake off, but the American version will be fascinating for me, don't know how they'll cope with me mind!”
