Drop-in event this Friday to help Wirral 'Stay Safe and Warm'

A drop-in session will take place this Friday organised by Wirral Council to help people keep healthy.

”Stay Safe and Warm’” is a campaign offering advice and support along with electric blanket-testing for Wirral people.

Council officers will join representatives from charities Age UK Wirral, the Fire Support Network and Energy Projects Plus to provide advice and support on issues including:

• Promoting awareness towards a fire safe society through education and support to any person involved or affected by fire and other emergencies

• Living independently and advice regarding housing, benefits, transport, health, care at home, education and training for the over-50s

• Managing fuel bills and debt, financial assistance for damaged heating systems and boilers, home insulation and advice and support in related areas

• Free health and safety checks referring residents to a wide variety of health and housing services.

Each organisation will be providing information about the services they have available.

The drop-in will take place at Birkenhead Market at a unit on the Jackson aisle, from 9.30am to 3.30pm, this Friday, March 8.

Tests of electric blankets will be undertaken by appointment only and on a first come, first served basis.

To book your place contact the Stay Safe and Warm Team on 0151 691 8448.

Any blankets that fail will be replaced and will no longer be able to be used. Replacement blankets will be available at a rate of one per person.
