Hoylake householders object to petrol station's round-the-clock opening bid

PLANS to open a petrol station around-the-clock are being opposed by residents in Hoylake.

The scheme is set to go before Wirral’s licensing committee on Wednesday and would see Hoylake Service Station in Birkenhead Road being allowed to open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

According to documents to be considered by the panel, applicant Rontec Watford Limited wants to extend its current opening times of 6.30am to 10pm.

However, the plans have met with concern from local people that the changes would bring anti-social behaviour and noise during the early hours of the morning.

A 122-strong petition has been submitted along with five individual representation from neighbouring households.

One resident had lodged support for the application, stating licensing objectives would not be “undermined” if it was granted.

The committee will meet at Wallasey Town hall this Wednesday, March 6, at 1pm.

the NIMBYS are out again. I have to ask what is so special about Hoylake residents as it seems they are opposed to everything at the moment. They moaned about the HSBC closing, they moaned over the Holiday Inn licence and if I remember they even complained about the lack of business when the women's golf was on.

The anti social behavior they are so worried about happens regardless of whether or not the garage is open and I doubt that there will be too many people driving through the garage at silly o'clock in the morning but I know if you need a garage in an emergency it will be very handy indeed!
