CCTV footage of man wanted in connection with the incident
A MAN indecently exposed himself in front of a teenage girl outside a Wirral chip shop.
Detectives have released a CCTV still of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place in Brassey Street, Birkenhead at around 5pm on Thursday, February 14.
A girl was waiting for her friend outside a fish and chip shop when the man approached and asked her for the time before exposing himself to her.
The girl ran home and told her mum who called the police later that evening after a brief search.
The girl was left extremely shocked and upset, but unhurt. Her friend did not witness the incident and was not involved.
The offender is believed to have walked off towards Mallaby Street and a nearby park.
Extensive CCTV enquiries have been carried out and detectives are treating it as an isolated incident.
Detective Constable Emma McLeod from Birkenhead CID, said: "This was an unpleasant and shocking incident for the victim, who did exactly the right thing and ran home to tell a parent.
"It happened at a busy time of day when people will have been coming home from work, picking up food from the local shops or even going out for Valentine's Night so there are lots of potential witnesses.
"I would encourage everyone to look at the person in this CCTV and contact me if they know who it is or remember seeing someone resembling him in the area that afternoon."
